Sea Turtle Quilt Block

Summer arrived some time last week, and I couldn’t be happier. I do so love the long, languid days of June and July. There’s a real underwater feel to life during the summer; No matter what you’re doing, it’s a little slower, a little more relaxed. I can feel this in my cutting and sewing. 💙

The Sea Turtle is a sweet and fun quilt block. Not too challenging – but just enough to make it fun for adventurous quilters.

The “shell” would be beautiful done in florals. Or any high volume fabric. The “body” is best in low volume or solids. Makes a pretty contrast, and does well to highlight the shape of the turtle. For the sample block, we chose a low volume backdrop and a solid for the body. This is also quite fun. The blossom print looks a lot like bubbles.
