Warm & Cozy December Evenings

The evenings outside are dark and cold. But inside, there’s a warm and cozy glow. The Christmas tree is lit, ornaments sparkling and shimmering amongst the twinkle lights. I love this beautiful tree, and the very mid-century modern star on top.

The tree skirt was a lovely find this year: faux fur with shiny sequin snowflakes all around. It quickly became a favorite napping spot for our two furry kitties. Our little Miss Fluffo escapes the pressures of her comfy life by curling under the tree, and occasionally finding the energy to tap a few low-hanging ornaments.

Putting the tree up, and decorating, took two days. We gently unpacked our precious mercury glass baubles, handmade felt animals, crocheted stars, wooden cottages and churches, blown glass Santas, and porcelain gold-striped candy canes. Bit by bit, the tree was adorned with memories, hopes, and simple joys.

Our Bethany Lowe snowmen – hand-painted and doused in glitter – sparkle and spread cheer all over the house. This little fellow with the lantern is one of my favorites.

Every evening, when the day’s work is done, we retire to the living room. The Mr. in his favorite chair, with a book and a kitty in his lap, and me in my favorite spot on the rug, looking up at the Christmas tree. Favorite holiday books are all around. I pore over them, reading festive stories, recipes, and crafts.

Christmas is a warm glow within the heart and home, and it needs to be kindled. ✨

Wishing you warmth and joy.
