Autumn Is Near
It’s late summer, and that means autumn is just around the corner. Sweet autumn, when the afternoons are still warm and golden, but the evenings have a refreshing chill. I can’t wait.
I’m thinking of all the things I love to do in autumn, and most of these involve crafting. (Yes, baking and nature-walks are on the list, too!) Autumn colors are calling my name, and I’ve decided to put away the summer projects for the year. Seasonal crafting is very important to me; It keeps me grounded in the present, and makes me more aware of the subtle changes in the natural world.
I’ve started a new crochet project: A throw adapted from the lovely Ripple Wrap by Heidi Gustad. It’s a beautiful and vintage-style design. Very easy to remember, and so relaxing. I chained 176 for a lap throw, and I’m using a size 5.5mm hook. The yarn is from my collection of Paintbox Simply Aran.
I want an autumn/November/Thanksgiving feel to this throw. I want it to evoke crisp fall leaves, pumpkin cookies, spiced lattes, golden sunflowers, and pumpkins on the porch.
The cozy season is coming. 🌻🍂
