Garden Radish Quilt Block
We recently launched Trellis & Thyme’s first batch of quilt block patterns! Each block pattern contains full-color, step-by-step illustrated instructions for making a 6-inch or 12-inch quilt block. First up, I had to share the Garden Radish block – isn’t it so sweet? (If you’ve seen our Welcome Spring Sampler cross stitch, you’ll definitely recognize the classic T&T radish design.)

Because the design features big bold shapes, it’s ideal for both solids and scrappy fabrics. I enjoyed combining solids and basics for the above version, with a pale blue background, (Kona Sea Glass, plus Texture by Sandy Gervais, and Kisses by Riley Blake Designs.)
The 12-inch Garden Radish block below is scrap-happy. I think it shows off how pretty the design can be when you just have fun with fabrics, and use whatever you have on hand. Since I love natural/off-white backgrounds most, I had to get creative with the white portion of the radish; This is the part of sewing quilt blocks that I find the most fun (and challenging.)

And this 6-inch block is again, totally scrappy, as I just picked whatever fabric pieces I had on hand. I’m looking forward to creating a very colorful patch of pink, purple, and golden radishes!
